What kind of people are you surrounding yourself with?
Do we ever think about this question?
Are we aware of the impact our friendships and relationships have on us?
I like to engage with people from all walks of life, and my curiosity about the world is what keeps me connected to people. However, my need to grow and develop into the best version of myself is what keeps me wanting to surround myself with people who inspire me.
Education is an endless process for me. It starts with my mindset.
I am very passionate about being fit and active, so I belong to groups that motivate me to stay active and healthy.
Although belonging to groups can enhance your skills and help you develop new hobbies, maybe make some friends along the way they can be limiting.
The people who we sit with and talk to on a daily basis without knowingly influence us.
- Are you familiar with these types of social engagements?
- Have you wondered what kind of impact people have on your mindset?
If you are looking for a change, my advice to you would be to change the people who are surrounding you.
I am not encouraging you to lose friendships or dismiss people from your life. All I am motivating you to do is think about the impact these people are having on your personal, social and professional life.
Here is a list of a few examples of how our surrounding environment influences us.
Thinking of starting a Diet? Losing some weight or shifting to a healthy lifestyle.
You will have better luck achieving this goal if you are talking to the right people who are practicing this change. Speaking to the wrong people might deter you and prevent you from feeling motivated.
Sound familiar? ”
I tried dieting; it doesn’t work.”
“I eat what I feel like and try to go to the gym once in a while.”
The amount of negative talk is endless. Save yourself and start running. These people are not trying to hurt your mental mindset; they are just who they usually are.
Are you trying to get out of the Rat race? Would you like to achieve financial freedom?
Money is vital to all of us
But not everyone has a good relationship with money. The advice you get from someone who is just paying the bills and making ends meet will be different from someone who can make money from their earned money.
Your financial decisions will change significantly when you engage in the right money conversations.
Has the travel bug hit you? Are you thinking of visiting another country?
Don’t pack your bags yet if you are talking to people who have never left the county. The advice and comments they are giving are usually based on news, gossips and hearsay.
Talk to people who know about traveling and have gained experience from their travels. There are so much useful traveling tips you can get from them. You will become a world traveler sooner than you think.
Are you planning a career change? Tired of your job/career and thinking of making a change?
If you are thinking of resigning from your job and need solid advice, you need to speak to people who have made the change. Their knowledge and strengths will lay the foundation for your career change.
Many people unknowingly shift their fears onto us. You need to have a strong mind that will prevent you from easily being influenced.
Are you having relationship issues?
Maybe you are feeling positive about your love life, and you want to share your joy with the world.
Here is a thought! Not everyone is going to be happy for you. Most of the time when people are not satisfied with their relationships they will transcend their negative opinions about love onto you. Be careful of who you talk to regarding your relationship status.
If you are experiencing relationship turmoil, you need talk that will strengthen your emotions instead of making you feel like you want to wallow further into self-depression.
Talking and engaging with people is a natural human experience, and we need social interaction to feel like we part of the world.
So what is normal chatting that will not affect your emotional and logical mindset?
Food – Who does not love a great food conversation? Sharing your favorite food recipes and places to eat connects people.
Kids– If you are a parent talking to other parents about the growing years it will be such a relief knowing that other parents are facing the same challenges as you.
Schools– Parents need constant information regarding schools and universities. Forget searching on Google. Parents who have experience with particular Educational institutions are the best source of information.
Music– There are so many music genres in the world. Music is fun and makes such a great conversation. Changing and welcoming a new genre into your life cannot cause harm.
Movies and Television Series– Maybe you are currently watching a series or recently watched a movie that has made you feel so excited that you just needed to share it with people, talking about it will create excitement for others. Did anyone watch Bird box on Netflix? Facebook and many social platforms were buzzing after the movie was released.
Continue to orbit around people, but make sure you inspired and admired!!
