Have you ever found yourself in an environment where you were not happy to be in?
The energy in the space feels so heavy you stopped breathing as usual, and sadly you don’t realize it. Your emotional presence has adapted to your surroundings.
You sense that something is not right, but every day you motor on with life. Until one day when the breaks won’t work, and you forced to stop. When that day arrives you realize, wait “I’m just not happy with this situation.”
In a world filled with diverse people, cultures, ethnicity, and personalities believe it or not most of the time our situations are similar to others.
Our environments might be different, but our reactions to it could be very similar.
So often humans rush through the day trying to get through the list of things that need to get done, that we forget about ourselves. We somehow disconnect from our emotions.
When we do this every day, it becomes difficult for us to become self aware.
Maybe you an employee at work who has realized that you just not happy anymore. Something is just not sitting right with you, or your personal life doesn’t feel the same anymore.
There is an endless list of examples that will cause us to feel discomfort. It might not happen to you right now, but at some point who knows.
What if you just took a moment and stopped!
Unsung Heroes!
Take a look around to see who is sharing your environment. There are unsung heroes among us. There are those people who show up every day and offer a lifeline.
Their generosity and kindness are being offered to someone without expecting anything in return.
What are the heroes in our life’s doing that we don’t see? Are we so busy to take notice?
We don’t purposefully ignore their presence. We just guilty of being human. We not perfect and we not designed to know it all.
But life teaches us every day. If you are willing to learn, you will see the world as a different and unique place.
No matter which environment you find yourself in, you will change it to adapt to you and not the other way around.
What are random acts of kindness?
When you take action to do things for others without knowing them or expecting anything in return. Sometimes these acts of kindness are spontaneous or pre-planned.
When they happen, the impact that it can have on another person may be life-changing.
When you are performing random acts of kindness, you are charitable. You stop thinking about yourself and are thinking about others.
It is about being selfless and not expecting a reward.
There is so much literature on this topic, yet our education about is limited. Are we spending enough time learning the right things in life?
If we are not selfless people and being charitable is not a part of who we are, then maybe it’s time for us to learn.
There’s a misconception about the term. It usually implies that a random act is generally directed towards a stranger, but it can include family and friends.
Imagine how that would change your relationships?
What are the benefits of being kind?
- You focus on life changes. If you are having problems, stress or any form of negativity in your life, when you focus on just doing something nice for someone else it makes you feel different, a little better about yourself.
- You become mentally stronger. You will begin to think of life in a more positive way. You will be the reason another person feels hopeful.
- Being kind is contagious. You will start something small that can lead to something bigger.
- You feel happier. Doing something kind for someone else makes that person feel happy, and in return, you feel happy
- You gain a sense of peacefulness. Thinking of others can make you feel peaceful. With so much noise in our lives, it would be nice to create some peace for ourselves.
- You will make a difference in someone’s life. Maybe the person whom you are kind to is going through a personal crisis, but when you showed kindness, you did something that could have made a difference.
Ideas to show random acts of kindness
- My birthday is special to me, just like so many others. We often receive gifts or some thought when it’s our birthday. We might even treat ourselves on our special day. What if you took your age and did the amount in random acts of kindness leading up to your birthday. How do you think you would feel knowing for an X amount of time you were making a small difference or maybe a big difference in someone else’s life? Just a random thought! If you were to consider it, please let me and my readers know!!
- Just show up and smile – Sometimes all someone needs is a smile. It’s so simple yet not done often enough.
- Buying someone a meal. Hunger exists even in the lives of those who don’t look the part.
- Maybe offering to take care of your relative or friends children. So they can have a much-needed break.
- What about our colleagues at work, sometimes we don’t see them. Maybe it is time to take a closer look and see that amongst the many faces there is someone who needs to be cheered up. Why not offer a laugh or a random chat and remind them that life at work is just not so bad!
I could list so many ideas, but life is unpredictable and changes constantly. The people we encounter are not all the same. To be kind, we need to care about those who meet, see or an encounter.
Do you have to know someone to show them kindness? No, all you need to know is that you care enough to show them kindness……
To all the Super people and Unsung heroes that continue to make a difference.
You keep inspiring me to do the same.
Superlady!
