My dream staycation at the Rixos Premium Dubai
I love packing my bag and escaping. I never really considered planning staycations. One day I was having lunch with a friend of mine who just recently did a staycation and listening to how much fun he had. I decided to try it. I will admit my thoughts on staycations was that it is expensive and pointless. Why would you want to stay in a hotel that is an hour or so from your apartment? Living in the United Arab Emirates is unique. You either live in a tall skyscraper somewhere in the city or the outskirts of the neighbouring areas. If you are like me and have always lived in the city, packing up for the weekend to stay in a hotel that is probably in the same city or the 2-hour drive in Dubai, seemed like too much of a hassle. Now there are five more Emirates in the UAE, and that to me made better sense. Nonetheless, I was going to experience a staycation. I needed a relaxing weekend and a change of environment.
I went onto my favourite app Booking.com. I love looking at the hotel options and get very excited by the deals of the day. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Rixos Premium hotel appear on my search for beach hotels in Dubai. I think being on the app so frequently even when I am not planning a trip already I would know the hotels they feature. I like knowing what the rates are and what hotels are having deals. Do you do the same thing? To me, it’s like window shopping. No big deal its free and you get to explore the rooms and check out the facilities. It’s motivating and gives you a reason to look forward to the month end when that paycheck rolls in.
The Premium Rixos Hotel opened its doors to guests in July 2017. I was excited. The hotel was new, and it was summer in Dubai. The summer holiday from June to August when school vacations begin is usually the best time to take advantage of the hotel offers. This time of year is the travelling season. Many families and people leave the country with their children for the much-awaited trip back to their own countries to visit their families or to explore other countries as I do with my kids.
I got back from a month long vacation in the United States, so I still had time to cash in on the hotel deals. Staying at a hotel like the Rixos is not cheap even during low seasons. It is a five-star hotel with a prime location on the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), which is like the Miami of Dubai. I will have to write a different blog altogether about the JBR residence, or you can visit the site click on the link https://www.visitdubai.com/en/pois/the-walk-at-jbr. I highly recommend staying on the Walk when you are visiting Dubai, there is so much to do for families, and the restaurants are so fantastic.
My weekend at the hotel was an experience. The newly opened hotel did not disappoint. The location was perfect. I had access to the beach and the array of restaurants.
My deciding factor to stay at any hotel is the room décor and ambiance. I am all about space. I am writing a new book on the topic and can’t wait to share it with you. Pictures never do any justice to a place. Wouldn’t you agree? I have been disappointed in the past. Have you? On the site the room looked fabulous, but when you enter its either small and nothing like you expected. I know I have had to quickly tell myself its okay at least there is a beautiful beach or the location was perfect. Otherwise, I wouldn’t enjoy the holiday and cancellation would be costly.
My feelings when entering the Rixos was far from disappointing. If I could decorate a hotel room, to me, the Rixos was on point. I loved the colours, and the layout of the room was well used. The floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ocean while laying on the massively long sofa gave the place a majestic and romantic feel. If you prefer soaking in the sunken bath, you could still enjoy the views because the hotel was smart enough not to enclose the bathroom. The glass was a great way to separate the two rooms. The hotel has a lot to offer regarding night live. The Azzure beach has become a favourite hangout and families can enjoy the water sports available. Visit the website http://premiumdubai.rixos.com/gallery/homepage/gallery/114/0/0 for your next staycation or holiday in Dubai. I hope my gallery of pictures does justice to the place. Believe me; you will not be disappointed.
