“I am the journey life has taken me on”
I dedicate this post to all those who are truly discovering their authentic selves.
Who are you?
We all born into a life that we never chose. Parents that have already build existence into this world. Most of the time their lifestyles are inherited from their parents and so on.
But there are the exceptions where people have gone against the grains of life and forged their own versions. Some people are seen as risk-takers adventures and wanderlusts living unusual lives.
When we are young we somehow become molded into what our parents and caregivers expect of us. We unknowingly fall into a life cycle that restricts us from getting to know who we are.
Does this pattern sound familiar?
Maybe you the exception or you have witnessed this trend in your community or society as a whole.
I certainly grew up believing that to live my life beyond the home I grew up I had to adopt the same lifestyle as my parents and grandparents. Yes, I fell victim to those ideas and followed a similar path. But deep within me, I was rebelling and it frustrated me. I felt like I couldn’t express my desire to live my best life because I didn’t know what I wanted.
The world around me was limited to the community I grew up in. I never traveled to other countries or ventured far from my neighborhood and the community I knew.
All our journeys begin at different stages of life.
What was life like before the internet and social media?
My source of information about the world and people were limited to books borrowed from the library and television shows. Sound familiar?
Yet there was a desire in me for more. I wanted more from life but I had no idea where to start.
Now when I look back at my young and naïve self all I can do is smile because she didn’t disappoint us.
Even though I didn’t have a lot of information to work with and I was clueless about life I knew that if I was going to change the cycle I needed to start with me.
Maybe you need a change in your life!
If you stumbled on this read let me tell you that all changes begin with you.
Mahatma Gandhi famously said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
Change comes with knowing who you are!
Do you truly know who you are?
If you answered yes immediately then consider yourself blessed.
I have changed a lot in my life. My changes have taken years of hard work; perseverance and determination. But my journey is far from finished.
There were times when it all felt hopeless and I just couldn’t see the point of what I was trying to achieve. My thoughts became noise in my head and I felt like giving up. Trying to convince myself that the world didn’t need the person I was so desperately working hard to become. I felt like I couldn’t speak about my feelings because on the surface my life seemed perfect to others. I didn’t wasn’t to be thought of as a complainer. So I suffered within.
When you choose to silence yourself you begin to feel lonely.
Loneliness is a feeling no one should expose themselves to. If you think you are alone you are not. You have convinced yourself that you are. It’s easy to allow ourselves to feel negative but when it’s time to think positively we make excuses.
I’ve always been believed that words are the most powerful tool we have.
So who are you?
Are you still not sure how to answer?
Life is a journey! We hear this expression most of the time.
Life is short! This has become a useful expression in times of despair and sadness. It’s so easy for people to dish out words but what they serving means nothing if it’s not put into action.
Life teaches you wisdom!
The more you do something the more experienced you become at it. When you start living life the way it’s meant to be lived you find yourself dishing out words of wisdom.
I am not an expert about life. Life is still teaching me many things. But I’ve become experienced enough to know when things are making me unhappy and I start feeling less of who I am then I need to change direction.
When do you know when it’s time for a new direction?
You will know this answer when you become one with yourself!
We don’t truly know who we are because we are so busy trying to experience a life that was handed to us at birth. We find ourselves trying to please those around us.
To the mothers and fathers who wake up each day wanting to give their kids a better life, you need to be saluted.
The world is filled with people who are busy with routines committed to the lives they worked hard to establish.
You can find yourself lost in the life you have.
Well if you struggling to change things in your life. All you need to do is take a step out of it and rediscover who you are.
Your life will continue to be your journey. People and things will come and go but the one person who will continue your journey is you!
The best way to know who you truly are is to have a deep connection with your inner being.
When you know who you truly are you will live the best life!
Superlady!
