“I survived because the fire inside of me burned brighter than the fire around me”
This week I needed to find words, a quote, something that would ignite my soul.
I stumbled across Joshua Graham’s quote “I survived because the fire inside of me burned brighter than the fire around me”, it sparked a light inside of me. Just what I needed to get me through a rather tough week.
Life is leading us on a journey and to reach our desired destination we have to conjure the warrior inside of us.
We have to reach deep down and lean on our inner strength.
- Are you a warrior? Is life a constant battle that challenges you?
- What kind of warrior are you?
- Do you have a plan for the battles you are facing?
These are the type of questions that I address to myself when I need to self reflect. We can only become stronger than we were yesterday when we are brutally honest with ourselves. Forget seeking help from others and depending on someone else to tell you who they think you are. We need to be real with ourselves and take action to make the changes that will positively impact our lives.
So what exactly is inner strength?
Inner strength also called atmabala, is the strength of the soul. It is not the same as mental strength. Our minds are different from our souls.
Inner strength allows us to be tolerant and patient under extreme circumstances. We choose to be courageous when the odds are against us. Self-confidence becomes the driving force behind our ambition to succeed in life.
How can we build our inner strength?
Surround yourself with strong and positive people. When you connect with people who have inner strength and are dealing with life positively, you will learn and adapt to their way of thinking. This positive impact on you will automatically transcend into your personal life.
Make yourself a priority. We often take care of everyone except ourselves. Become selfish with your “Me time.” Treat yourself to whatever makes you feel happy and relaxed. Make sure you are caring for your soul.
Think positively. Is too much positivity bad for you? I don’t think so. It’s best to deal with life as an optimist instead of looking at life from a negative point. So what if life throws lemons at you, make lemonade and get on with it. There is always a rainbow at the end of a storm. Need I say more?
Learn to be friends with yourself. Sound strange? We are so busy trying to be friends with strangers, that we lose sight of the person we see in the mirror every day. You are that person you need to be friends with. It is so important to be able to be alone with one’s self. Self-reflection helps heal a broken soul.
Stop being scared. No matter what you’re trying to achieve in life, fear will try to creep up on you and stop you. Don’t give into your fears. No matter what the outcome will be, you have nothing to lose when you try. You will surprise yourself when the result has been accomplished. Bury fear and become fearless!
Forgive yourself. The past will always remain in the past. Accept the past and look towards the future. Guess what? Waiting for you is a stronger you. Be ready to embrace the new changes in your life by forgiving yourself.
Enjoy life. Remember to breathe and smile. Life is short and years fly by too quickly. Enjoy the life that you have. Make plans and create actions that will keep you on a path of happiness.
Wishing you inner strength
Superlady!
